Welcome to Sunward Therapy

Excited to share my new online platform to support adults across Ontario with online counselling and psychotherapy.

Finding Light in the Weight of Chronic Illness

Hello, and welcome. If you have found your way here, you might be carrying a weight that the rest of the world does not always see.

My name is Jacqueline On, and I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist based in North Bay, Ontario. I founded Sunward Therapy because I saw a profound need for a clinical space that truly understands the psychological load of chronic illness, invisible disability, burnout, and long-term health challenges.

My Approach: Honouring Your Lived Experience

Rooted in my clinical training and my own lived experience as a Spoonie therapist, my practice is built on the belief that “wellness” isn’t a rigid destination; it’s a dynamic, daily navigation. Many of my clients are adjusting to life-altering diagnoses, managing unpredictable flare-ups, or carrying the daily fatigue of invisible suffering.

In our sessions, we do not just talk about physical symptoms. We make room for the full emotional landscape:

  • The quiet grief of lost energy and changing abilities
  • The anxiety of medical uncertainty and endless appointments
  • The pressure to “keep up” in a world that rarely slows down
  • The resilience it takes to show up for yourself every single day

Why Virtual Therapy?

I intentionally designed Sunward Therapy as a virtual practice. While I am physically located in North Bay, virtual services allow me to support individuals from all across Ontario. For those living with chronic conditions, pain, or deep exhaustion, simply getting to a traditional therapy office can be a barrier rather than a bridge.

By offering sessions via secure video and phone, I aim to meet you exactly where you are:

  • Accessibility First: No commute or waiting rooms. You can attend sessions from the comfort and safety of your own home, which is often essential on high-symptom days.
  • Spoon Conservation: Virtual therapy allows you to save your precious energy for the actual work of healing, rather than travel.
  • Low Sensory Demand: Choose between face-to-face video or the gentle, low-stimulation option of phone sessions depending on what your nervous system needs each week.

Opening Doors this September

I am so glad to share that Sunward Therapy is officially opening intake for September 2026!

Whether you’re looking to process a new diagnosis, recover from chronic burnout, or find steady glimmers of hope on overcast days, this space was created to be a supportive, judgment-free container where you can slow down and feel heard.
