Therapy for Stress Management & Burnout Recovery

You’re surviving your life, but you aren’t actually living it. Specialized virtual psychotherapy with Jacqueline On, MSW, RSW, helping Ontario adults in navigating stress and burnout, release the pressure to be endlessly productive, and protect their energy.

When Stress Becomes Burnout

It usually starts with trying to do everything on your list. You push through the exhaustion, telling yourself, “I just have to get through this week.” Then next week arrives, and the weight is just as heavy. Over time, that stress compounds.

You might find yourself thinking:

I am tired all the time.

You sleep, but wake up with this unshakeable exhaustion.

Everything feels like too much.

You dread small daily tasks, feel overwhelmed, and your motivation is completely gone.

My spark is gone.

You feel detached and cynical lately, and you’ve lost all enjoyment in your professional and personal life.

I feel like I’m out of control.

You notice yourself leaning heavily on quick fixes or old habits, to the point of overdoing it, just to make it through the day.

Is my body trying to tell me something?

Your frequent tension headaches, fatigue, and digestive issues feel like they’re taking over.

I can’t just relax.

Even when you try to do something fun, you can’t focus and keep thinking about the next task on your to-do list.

I can’t say no to anyone

You’re overwhelmed with guilt whenever you try to say no, and end up with too much on your plate. You feel like a failure.

About Therapy for Stress & Burnout

Therapy for stress and burnout offers a soft landing to unpack your exhaustion, a dedicated space where we welcome the tired, anxious, overachieving parts of you that are adding to your load. In our time together, we will explore how chronic stress is impacting your body, boundaries, and daily life.

The benefit of this work isn’t about reaching a state of stress-free bliss;  that isn’t realistic. Instead, we focus on practical, life-changing outcomes:

Nervous System Regulation

Shifting your body from a state of constant physical and mental depletion to having a reliable, sustainable energy reserve that lasts.

Finding Your Voice

Learn to honour your true boundaries, releasing the guilt of saying “no” so you can protect your time, peace, and health.

Mental Clarity

Becoming crystal clear on what matters most to you and making decisions from a place of integrity, not fear.

Reconnecting With Yourself

Figuring out who you actually are and what you care about when you finally have more space to breathe. At Sunward Therapy, I provide a warm, collaborative partnership to help you get there. As a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, I join you, not just as a clinician, but as an active accountability partner to help you step-by-step along the way.

How We Work Together

Our sessions offer a compassionate, adaptable space where you don’t have to carry the weight alone. We honour your nervous system’s capacity each week, focusing our time together on a few core areas to help you recover your energy and feel grounded again:

Regulating an Exhausted System

When you’ve been running on empty for too long, your body can get stuck between constant high alert and total shutdown. We will use gentle body-based practices and light tapping to soothe physical tightness, release built-up tension, and send a clear signal to your body that it is safe to unwind.

Softening the Inner Drive to Perform

Burnout is often driven by loud internal voices. For example, the perfectionist, the pleaser, or the part of you that believes you can’t say no. Together, we will listen to these protective parts with curiosity rather than frustration, helping them soften their grip so you can finally rest without guilt.

Reclaiming Boundaries and What Matters

Constant depletion makes it difficult to tell what you need and what everyone else expects. We will practice stepping back from demanding thoughts, getting clear on your personal values, and building clear, compassionate boundaries that protect your time and energy.

Rebuilding Sustainable Momentum

True recovery isn’t about pushing yourself back to the same pace that burned you out. We will quiet the urgency to “fix everything at once,” focusing instead on small, intentional shifts that restore your daily vitality at a pace that actually fits your life.

Our goal is to help you step off the path of chronic exhaustion, restore your physical and emotional capacity, and shape a daily life that honours your energy and needs.

Support for Your Real, Everyday Life

Often you can’t escape your immediate stressors. Your career, financial needs, or family responsibilities aren’t going to vanish overnight.

However, by strengthening your internal resources, you can learn to navigate life’s storms without burning out, breaking down, or losing yourself. When you’re ready, I will be right there beside you as you step into life-aligned, meaningful change.

We meet online via secure video or phone, allowing you to join from the comfort of your own home, no extra energy lost on commuting or sitting in a waiting room. Think of our sessions as your virtual landing pad: a safe space to pause, process, and reconnect with what you truly need.
